A study of Pakistan's digital library
Providing affordable access to scientific and technical research information is recognised worldwide as an essential element in promoting national development. This publication, commissioned from the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan, documents developing a centralised national digital library can meet that objective. It covers the content, training, marketing, finance, impact and monitoring and evaluation of the Digital Library, as well as plans for the future. The conclusion is that the Library is cost effective and with a positive impact on research in Pakistan.
This is the first in the Research and Education Case Studies series. The intention is that other countries establishing methods of accessing e-resources can learn and benefit from the experiences of Pakistan. It will also be of interest to those working with countries to set up e-resource access systems.
